With Adidas and Yeezy, and Nike having Jordans and a heavy contract with LeBron James, it’s easy to forget about the other popular streets/sportswear company, Puma…
Quick history lesson, Adidas and Puma were pitted as enemies against each other because of their founders; brothers Adi and Rudi Dassler, a feud that didn’t really end until after the brothers had each died. During the 1920s, the brothers had ran together a sports shoe company; but with growing profits, grew tension and the brothers not so diplomatically separated each creating their own brands. After a little bit of research, I found that Puma began to really slip around the 2000s when in 2007 it was voluntarily taken over by PPR. I never really paid a lot of attention to Puma until 2014 though, when they named Rihanna as their global ambassador and Creative Director.
Now, onto the present with how Puma’s Fall 2016 campaign is keeping up with Yeezy Season and Jordans. I really began to notice a change in their products after Rihanna arrived, which may be bias since I routinely call Rihanna my soulmate and spirit animal, but I digress. Rihanna went on to create her own line with Puma, Fenty X Puma, which for this year is using Naomi Campbell as the model.
Puma is also enlisting Kylie Jenner, Rae Sremmurd, and YesJulz for the campaign and the results have been dope. Check out some of the photos below.
